Who you’re up against in Market lists the businesses your buyers already know and compare you with. Marsell finds them by what your buyers identify with: a style or a scene for a brand, a niche for a creator, a place and a service for a local business, a practice area for a law firm, the job to be done for software.

What you see

  • Each rival, with what it sells and, where its shop shows it, its price. A rival marked Studied is one Marsell reads each week: its pages and its ads. You named it marks the ones you added.
  • What they charge: for a clothing brand, a price ladder of what a tee costs at each rival, “Read from their shops”, with your own price on it.
  • Brands you learn from: brands your buyers don’t weigh against you, kept apart from the rivals, for ideas.
  • Earlier market research: the openings and crowds an earlier search found.

Add or remove a rival

  • Add one you know: type Their name and their-site.com, then Add.
  • Not a rival: press × on a card. The next search leaves it out, and Undo puts it back.

Search again

Rivals are found by the same search as your crowds and conversations: Find them or Look again, about 2,000 tokens and never more than 6,000. Changing what Marsell looks for changes the rivals it finds. See Buyers and conversations.
