Brand, your project “as Marsell knows it.”, holds everything Marsell makes with: your logo, colours and type, your voice, the facts it may state, and the rules it keeps. Setup fills in what it can; you correct the rest here. Every change is saved as a new revision, and anything already made keeps the brand it was made with. Top to bottom: The look, The voice, Your files, Bring more in, What Marsell knows, Rules Marsell keeps, then Accounts and Team.

The look

The look is what every picture, film and page is made in, read from your site and your pictures, or rebuilt from your own words.
  • Logo. Add your logo, Replace or Take out. It goes on your posts, films, pages and avatar, and every new picture and film starts from it. A logo you replace stays in the kit as a variant.
  • Colours. Click a swatch to copy it; the pencil (Edit the colours) opens the editor. Up to eight colours, each with a name and a hex code; the first is the primary colour. Add a colour, then Save the colours.
  • Type. Edit the type: pick a face for Headlines and one for Everyday words, from the fonts included with Marsell or your own, then Save the type. Your own WOFF2 uploads a licensed face, up to 3 MB.
  • Pictures, aesthetic and never-dos. The reference pictures Marsell matches, the words for your aesthetic, your places and motifs, and what it never shows.

The voice

Edit the line and voice opens three fields:
  • A line that feels like you: your brand line;
  • How it sounds: how you write and speak;
  • Words, tones and claims to leave out.
Your status line, tagline and promise show as cards beside it.

In your words

In your words is your own brief, the way you’d brief a designer: what the brand is, what it looks and sounds like, what it isn’t. Your words outrank everything Marsell read from your site. Read my words again, about 1,200 tokens, rebuilds the look from them. You can also tell Marsell in the chat what’s wrong with the look, or paste your brief there.

What Marsell knows

“Every plan, post and page reads these.”
  • What it is and Who it’s for: click to change, then Save. These are your own words.
  • The facts you confirmed at setup, each tagged with where it came from: the page it was read from, You corrected it or Your words. A fact your site states two ways is marked “Your site says two things”.
  • Learned: what Marsell took from your weeks.
  • Read the investigation: the full report from setup, with every source read, every claim and the passages behind it, what to lead with, and what remains open. Report and Data download it.
If a review of the business is still open, a banner says so, with Finish the review.

Rules Marsell keeps

“One control each. Marsell follows them from the next post.” Change one, then press Save the rules, or Undo. The starting values depend on your kind of business. See Posting and the calendar.

Accounts and team

  • Accounts, “Where Marsell posts and what it reads”: each connected account, with the drafts ready for it and “Posting held by you”, and how many of your plan’s connections are used across all your projects. See Connect your accounts.
  • Team, “Who can see and approve”: you, and Invite someone by email. See Team.

History

Revision and History, at the top of the page, open “The story of your brand”: the last 50 saved revisions, each with what changed (name, logo, colours, type, brand line, voice, what it is, website), its colours and fonts. Go back to this restores one, saved as a new revision, so you can always come back. Everything already made keeps the brand it was made with.

How Marsell uses your brand

  • Pictures are made in your look. Pictures of your brand get your logo as an exact reference, and pictures of a product get the product’s own photos.
  • Films get your logo, colours and type.
  • Pages use your colours, logo, brand line and what to leave out.
  • Posts, replies and emails are written in your voice, from your confirmed facts, keeping your rules.
